Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a poverty-stricken family which would later comprise 12 kids Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life through her vivid and expansive imagination. She was writing songs before she was able to write or read. The first time she picked up a guitar was when she was just 8 years old and began singing on the Knoxville Tenn radio station at age eleven. In the same year, she released her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small label. While in high school, she was able to establish herself within the school community but her dream was greater. She moved to Nashville shortly after her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde was her first record to chart for the first time on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner began looking for female singers to join his television show that was syndicated around the same at the same time. Parton accepted the job and in the year 1967, she signed to RCA Records in 1968 and joined with the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. It was not until 1974 that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's program as the popularity of her individual records like Joshua Coat, Many Colors and Jolene had outstripped their collaborative efforts. The two split in 1974, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it debuted at No. For the first time, in 1974.
